Lighten up, buddy. If your workweek exceeds 60 hours and your other car is the A train, you need a little time off. Barring that, you need a Sony Ericsson K700i. With a built-in FM radio, a VGA camera, and 3D games, its about as much fun as you can have with a cell phone without setting it to vibrate.

The first thing you need to know about the K700i is that no U.S. carrier sells it. The second is that its still one badass phone. Sure, its great for music and games. But more than that, its one of the best phones around for satisfying the urge to document every moment of your waking life on your moblog. With 41MB of user-accessible memory, you can easily store hundreds of cam-phone photos. And Sony Ericssons QuickShare option lets you quickly connect to your PC to upload all your images via Bluetooth, though this generally works best if you have the optional QuickShare hardware (since few PCs have Bluetooth built in).PS Sprint.com has a great range of deals and promotion codes shared on their reseller sites like MyDealsClub has listed , be sure to check that out first.

The entire phone is designed to look as much like a camera from the back as it does like a cell phone from the front, with a well-placed shutter button that gives the K700i the feel of a sporty pocket cam. Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson completely flubbed the execution of this feature by failing to include a decent camera in the handset. So what you get is a 0.3-megapixel camera phone with features that would better serve any 1.3-megapixel cam phone. This is a serious foul-up, and it costs the phone a full star in our rating.

Even with this shortcoming, however, there are plenty of reasons to love the K700i. For one, it just feels good. The brushed aluminum casing is a welcome departure from the all-too-common cheap plastic devices that otherwise dominate the shelves at your local phone shop. And though its only 1.8 inches diagonally, the 200 x 176-pixel display looks gorgeous, particularly when you run an animated wallpaper in the background. Button feel is superb on this phone, and its no small feat that K700is software interface is among the most intuitive weve seen on any candy-bar handset.

Topping all this off is the phones excellent battery life: We got nearly four and a half hours of continuous talk time on a single charge. This is the kind of battery performance youd expect to see in a massive, clunky phone at twice the weight, and were grateful to Sony Ericsson for saving us a little pocket space without cutting our talk time.

All this goodness begs the question: Why didnt any U.S. carrier pick up this generally kick-ass phone? We cant say for sure, but were guessing that they have no taste. “Robert Strohmeyer”

Best Feature: Gorgeous design with excellent photo software
Worst Feature: Low-res camera spoils an otherwise awesome view
